In the Modular Merchant shopping cart software, promotions, sales, coupons, and discounts are all created using the Event Engine. Any promotion, sale, coupon, or discount is therefore considered to be an event.
If a customer must enter a coupon code in order to trigger an event, that event may be referred to as a "coupon event", or even just "coupon" if we're feeling especially saucy.
Gift Certificates are not coupons. A Gift Certificate is a product that generates a redeemable coupon code when it is purchased in the storefront by a customer. |
