PayPal Pro Error: No response was received from Paypal Pro. (ID: 00)

I am trying to test transactions in my store, and get the following error:

"No response was received from PayPal Pro. (ID: 00)"

The store is in Test Mode, and I have tried transactions using both the standard and sandbox PayPal API credentials. Why do I keep receiving this error message?

This error often occurs when the store is in Test Mode, and the PayPal Pro account is in sandbox mode. From our past experiences with PayPal's sandbox mode vs the store's test mode, there is conflict between two; resulting in inaccurate test results.

To receive the best possible confirmation of the store's communication with the PayPal gateway, it is best to abandon use of PayPal's sandbox, and instead test with the regular PayPal Pro credentials.

Once the regular PayPal Pro credentials are entered into the System Settings, take the store out of test mode, and attempt another transaction.

PayPal may decline an order of less than $1.00. It would be possible to try a test order of $0.00 or $0.01, but it may be declined.

This error message is one returned from PayPal, and not Modular Merchant. If the potential solution above does not resolve this error message, we recommend contacting PayPal support for more information.
