The CVV2 code, or credit card security code, is a 3 or 4 digit number that is printed on a credit or debit card, that is not part of the account number or the expiration date.  It is included in online credit card transactions to help reduce fraud and merchant liability.

This code is also known by the following acronyms:  CCSC, CSC, CVC, CVV, CVC1, CVV1, CVC2, or CCID code.
