Vendor Editor

A vendor is the creator, producer, manufacturer, or artist of products in the store.  The vendor editor is used to create and edit vendors for the store.
 
To create a new vendor:

 

  1. Go to  Products > Add a Vendor.
  2. Give the vendor a name. Required.
  3. Select whether the vendor is Active or Inactive.
  4. Select a template page for the vendor (vendor.tpl is used by default).
  5. If desired, provide a description for the vendor.
  6. Click the Save Changes button at the bottom of the page.
 
To edit an existing vendor:

 

  1. Go to Products > Vendor Search.
  2. Click either the SID number or the icon associated with the vendor.
  3. Make the intended changes to the vendor.
  4. Click Save Changes when finished.
 
Vendor Editor Columns

 

SID (System ID)
The SID (System ID) is a unique number that identifies the vendor to the system.  This number is set by the software and cannot be changed.

Name
This is the name of the vendor. Required.

Active
An active vendor will be displayed in the storefront. Inactive vendors will not be displayed in the storefront and will be hidden.

tip
Inactive Vendors can be used to manage coupon codes or promotions.

Display Order
The display order is used to designate the order that vendors are displayed in the storefront.  Lower numbers are displayed first.

Store Page
A web page other than the default vendor page can be assigned to the vendor .  To implement this option, input the alternate vendor page URL.  Include "http://".  If a URL is entered into this field, customers browsing this vendor in your storefront will be forwarded to that URL.  Leave this field blank to use a store template.

Template
The template is the file within the design package that controls the vendor's store page.  By default, vendors use the vendor template.  However, it is possible to assign an alternate template.

tip
Individual products, categories, and vendors can all use unique store templates.

Image
A vendor image can be uploaded.  It will be displayed on that vendor's storefront page.

Link Target
Specifies how the vendor page will be displayed when the customer clicks the link via the storefront.

Description
An HTML enabled description field is available.  The description will be displayed on the vendor's store page.

Phone number
The vendor's phone number can be inputted and displayed on the vendor's storefront page.

Website URL
The vendor's website URL can be inputted and displayed on the vendor's storefront page.

Address
The vendor's address can be inputted and displayed on the vendor's storefront page.

City
The vendor's city can be inputted and displayed on the vendor's storefront page.

State
The vendor's state can be inputted and displayed on the vendor's storefront page.

Zip
The vendor's zip can be inputted and displayed on the vendor's storefront page.

Country
The vendor's country can be inputted and displayed on the vendor's storefront page.

Custom Vendor Attributes
If there are any custom vendor attributes, they will be displayed here. Each attribute will have its own column.

Notes
Notes are hidden and displayed to store administrators only.
