The Search Category Attributes page displays the category attributes that are currently present in the store.
By default, the category attributes are displayed in order of DO (Display Order). A different method of sorting can be selected by clicking the up and down arrows in the heading of each column.
Search Category Attributes Columns
SID (System ID)
The SID (System ID) is a unique number that identifies the attribute to the system. This number cannot be changed.
Display Order
The Display Order determines the order in which the category attributes are arranged in the category editor. The lower the number, the higher the priority.
Title
The title of the category attribute appears to the left of the attribute in the category editor.
Type
The type of category attribute is the method of data input (such as a text field, dropdown menu, or radio buttons).
Unique
If a category attribute is set to be unique, the category attribute data that is saved for each category cannot be identical to the data saved in the attribute for any other category.
Required
If a category attribute is set to be required, a category cannot be created if the attribute does not contain data.
Strict
If a category attribute is set to be strict, only letters, numbers, and underscores can be typed into the attribute. Otherwise, any characters may be entered.
Encrypt
If a category attribute is set to encrypt, the data for the category attribute will be encrypted when it is saved to the database.
Internal
If selected, the category attribute will not be displayed to customers in the storefront; it will be used in the administration area only.
Email
If selected, the category attribute will be included with category related store generated emails.
Note
Notes are hidden and displayed to store administrators only. Click on the number to view/edit the note or to add a new note.
Active
An active attribute appears in the category editor, while an inactive attribute does not appear. A green dot in this column indicates that the attribute is active, while a red X indicates that the category attribute is inactive.
Clone
This tool makes a complete copy of the parent category attribute. This can be useful for creating new category attributes based off of an existing category attribute.
Edit this Category Attribute
Clicking on the SID number or icon for a category attribute will forward you to the Category Attribute Editor, where the category attribute can be edited.
(Check Icon) The checkboxes in this column work with the dropdown menu below the table, providing the options of activating, deactivating, and deleting one or more attributes.

Make Active
Multiple category attributes can be activated by selecting the checkboxes on the right, selecting Make Active from the dropdown menu, and clicking Go.
Make Inactive
Multiple category attributes can be deactivated by selecting the checkboxes on the first right, selecting Make Inactive from the dropdown menu, and clicking Go.
Clone
Multiple category attributes can be cloned simultaneously. To clone multiple category attributes, select the desired category attributes on the far right, select clone in the dropdown below the table, and click Go.
Delete
If a category attribute is no longer needed, it can be deleted. To delete a category attribute, select the desired category attribute(s) on the far right, select delete in the dropdown below the table, and click Go. |
