This tutorial will show how to use the Event Engine Editor to offer reduced or free shipping with a minimum purchase.
tip The Event Engine in MMv4 is very powerful and flexible. A basic understanding of the Event Engine Editor and it's functions would be helpful for this tutorial.
Overview
-
A customer places an order greater than $50
-
As the order is placed, the store automatically discounts the shipping.
-
If the customer changes the order to reflect a order total less than $50 the shipping charges will apply.
note
Any fields or sections of the Event Engine Editor that are not specifically addressed by this tutorial can be filled in at your discretion or can be left on the default setting.
While other settings are available to fine tune your stores behavior, it is not necessary to change them from their default settings in order to achieve the results listed below.
Refer to the Event Engine Editor for further information.
Creating the Event
1. In the Event Engine Module, click on Add an Event. This will load the Event Editor.
2. In the Event Type field choose Automated Event
3. In the Event Name field write Free Shipping with minimum purchase of $50
4. Verify that the Active button is set to Yes
5. For this example, the Reusable option will be set to Yes
note
In this example we will be offering free shipping for all clients with a purchase over 50 dollars. We also want to allow return customers free shipping with the minimum purchase. By setting the Reusable option to Yes this allows customers that have purchased in the past to get the free shipping on any current purchase.
Full definitions and examples of Redeem Limit and Reusable can be found by clicking on the i or information button next to those settings.
The Automated Event will happen once the criteria matches the triggers that we set below.
Set Triggers for the Event
6. The Trigger Type will be Basket
7. Trigger Details should be set up as shown in the example below

9. Click the "Save Changes to this Event" button at the bottom of the page.
10. Test the coupon in your storefront area to verify that it is doing the desired behavior
Once the event has been saved, once the customer has 50 dollars in their basket the storefront will cause the price of the selected shipping methods to be discounted. As a result, customers will now have free shipping with purchase over the desired amount. |
