The Search Store Graphics page displays the images that have been uploaded to the store's images directories. These images can be assigned to products, used in templates, used in custom webpages, and more.

Search Store Images

The Search Store Images section includes options to choose which image directory to search, and how many results to display per page.

Simply select an image directory from the dropdown menu, optionally adjust the number of images to be shown per page, then click Search. The images in the selected directory will then be listed in the Store Images table below.

Store Images

The Store Images section lists the images from the selected image directory. The images may be sorted by clicking the up and down arrows that are included in the header of most columns.

The table columns may be customized to display additional details for the listed images. To choose which columns are displayed in the Store Images table, click the Customize table columns link at the top right of the Store Images table.

Perform an action on the rows selected above...

The Perform an action on the rows selected above... section provides tools to manage the image files within the selected image directory.

There are three basic items in this section: the action dropdown menu, the apply-to dropdown menu, and the Go button. When an option is selected from the action menu, action detail items may appear to the right of the action menu.

In order to perform any of the file management actions, first select the desired option from the action menu, next enter the desired action detail settings, then select a range from the apply-to menu, and finally click Go.

beware of broken links
When an image is moved or deleted, any link in the storefront to that file will no longer be able to display the image. This will result in a broken link.

Before moving or deleting an image, it is recommended to review the image's # of Products, # of Categories, # of Vendors, # of Custom Webpages, and # of Custom QuickCode Tags columns. If any of those columns display a number greater than zero, then the corresponding items should be reviewed before the image is moved or deleted.

action menu options
Copy to another Image Directory...
This option may be used to create a copy of the selected image files, in another directory. The image files will still exist in the original directory, in addition to the copies in the new directory.  Thumbnails will also be created for the image copies in the new directory, even if the original images did not have thumbnail version.

When this option is selected,  the action detail dropdown menu will appear to the right of the action menul. The action detail menu contains a list of all of the store's current image directories, as well as the option A NEW Image Directory...

If A NEW Image Directory... is selected, then a secondary action detail item will appear to the right, to enter the name of the new image directory.

Download in a .zip file
This option may be used to download a .zip file that contains the selected image files and their associated thumbnails. The .zip file will have the same name as the selected image directory.

Move to another Image Directory...
This option may be used to move the selected image files to another directory. The image files and any associated thumbnails will be removed from the original directory, when they are inserted into the new directory. Thumbnail versions will automatically be created in the new directory, even if the selected images did not have thumbnail versions in the original directory.

Remove thumbnail images
This option may be used to delete all of the thumbnail images associated with the selected image files. The full size (large) images will be retained, but the medium, small, and basket thumbnails will all be deleted.

Delete
This option may be used to delete the selected images, including all of their thumbnail versions.

apply-to menu options
Apply action to just the images selected above.
When this option is selected, the specified action will be applied only to images with a selected checkbox in the Store Images table.

Apply action to ALL of the images in the "directory_name" Image Directory.
When this option is selected, the specified action will be applied to all of the images in the current image directory, regardless of any checkbox selections in the Store Images table. The current image directory name is included within the text of the option for verification purposes.

For instance, if a store admin had been viewing images within the "default" directory, then selected the "product" image directory from the Search Store Images menu, but neglected to click Search, the current image directory would still be the "default" directory, and the text of this option would read:
Apply action to ALL of the images in the "default" Image Directory.

Copy vs. Move

Copying and moving images to another directory are two very similar tasks.  Copying an image creates an additional instance of the image, located in another directory, so that there are two images with the same name and same contents on the server. Moving an image relocates the image to another directory, so that the original directory no longer contains the image and there is only one image with its name and content on the server.

When an image is copied or moved, the system will automatically attempt to create thumbnail versions for the image in the new directory.

To copy or move selected images:

  1. In the Store Images table, select the checkboxes for the images to be copied or moved.
  2. In the first dropdown menu of the Perform an action on the rows selected above... section, select either Copy to another Image Directory... or Move to another Image Directory...  When either of these options is selected, another dropdown menu will appear to the right.
  3. If images are to be moved to an existing directory, select the directory name from the new dropdown menu.
  4. If the images are to be moved to a new directory, select A NEW Image Directory... from the new dropdown menu.
  5. In the text field that appears to the right, type in the name of the new directory (using only letters, numbers, dashes, and underscores).
  6. Choose Apply action to just the images selected above from the next dropdown menu.
  7. Click Go, to create the directory (if necessary), and copy or move the selected images to the selected directory.

To copy or move all images within the current directory:

  1. In the first dropdown menu of the Perform an action on the rows selected above... section, select either Copy to another Image Directory... or Move to another Image Directory...  When either of these options is selected, another dropdown menu will appear to the right.
  2. If images are to be moved to an existing directory, select the directory name from the new dropdown menu.
  3. If the images are to be moved to a new directory, select A NEW Image Directory... from the new dropdown menu.
  4. In the text field that appears to the right, type in the name of the new directory (using only letters, numbers, dashes, and underscores).
  5. Choose Apply action ALL of the images in the "directory_name" Image Directory from the next dropdown menu.
  6. Click Go, to create the directory (if necessary), and copy or move all images from the current directory to the selected directory.

Create a back up of store images

Downloading all of a directory's images in a compressed .zip file is a quick and easy way to back up the store's image directory. If the store has multiple image directories, a back up zip file would need to be individually downloaded for each image directory.

If it is necessary to recreate the directory, simply use the Select/Upload Images tool at [Design > Upload Store Graphics] to upload the saved zip file.

To download a .zip file containing all of the image files within a selected image directory:

  1. Make sure the desired directory is the one displayed in the Search Store Images section.
  2. If necessary, select the desired directory from the Search Store Images dropdown menu, then click Search.
  3. In the first dropdown menu of the Perform an action on the rows selected above... section, select Download in a .zip file.
  4. Choose Apply action ALL of the images in the "directory_name" Image Directory from the next dropdown menu.
  5. Click Go to create a .zip file containing all of the image files within the current image directory. The .zip file will have the same name as the image directory.
  6. Depending on which browser is used,  a popup window may appear with options to Open or Save File.
  7. Choose Save File, then click OK.
  8. Some browsers may immediately and automatically download the .zip file.
