If FedEx shipping methods are not showing up at checkout, there are several possible causes. Some of the most common issues are as follows...

FedEx Account Information
Review the FedEx Integration settings at [Admin > Integrations with 3rd-Party Services > FedEx Shipping Tools]. If any of the options contain incomplete or inaccurate information, the shopping cart may be unable to connect to the FedEx servers to obtain shipping rates.

No active FedEx shipping methods

Review the active shipping methods at [Shipping > Search Shipping Methods]. If all of the shipping methods with the FedEx type are inactive, the shopping cart will not be able to display any FedEx shipping rates in the storefront.

Current order is not eligible for any of the active FedEx shipping methods

Review each active FedEx shipping method in the Shipping Method Editor. The options in the Limits and Display Zones sections may prevent the shipping method from being displayed in the storefront.

example
A shipping method has the High Display Threshold option in the Limits section set to 5 Quantity, and there are six products in the current order. Since the current order exceeds the shipping method's High Display Threshold value, that shipping method will not be displayed in the storefront for the current order.

No shipped products in the basket

Shipping information is only displayed at checkout if the current order contains at least one product that requires shipping. Confirm that at least one product in the order has the Requires Shipping? toggle set to YES in the Shipping & Fees section of the Product Editor.

No active FedEx shipping methods associated with product's dropshipper

For each product in the current order, check the status of the Location this Product Ships From and This product may only be shipped by the following methods options in the Shipping & Fees section of the Product Editor.

If the Location this Product Ships From dropdown menu has a dropshipper selected, review that dropshipper in the Dropshipper Editor to confirm that the desired FedEx shipping methods are selected in the Shipping Methods section.

If the This product may only be shipped by the following methods dropdown menu is set to Only the ship methods selected below..., confirm that in the Shipping Method list below the dropdown menu, the desired FedEx shipping methods are selected (as indicated by a checkbox that contains a checkmark).

"Ship From" address

If the "Ship From" address is incomplete, the FedEx servers may be unable to return shipping rates. The "Ship From" address is determined by the Location this Product Ships From setting for each product in the current order. The Location this Product Ships From option is in the Shipping & Fees section of the Product Editor

The FedEx servers are often quite strict regarding addresses, and may not return shipping rates if the address contains incorrect information, such as an invalid street number or a misspelled street name.

"Ship To" address

If the "Ship To" address is incomplete, the FedEx servers may be unable to return shipping rates. The "Ship To" address is entered in the Shipping Address fields of the checkout page.

The FedEx servers are often quite strict regarding addresses, and may not return shipping rates if the address contains incorrect information, such as an invalid street number or a misspelled street name. Additionally, FedEx does not ship to PO Boxes, and so if the current order has a PO Box as the "Ship To" address, the FedEx servers may refuse to return shipping rates.

Shipment does not meet FedEx requirements

There are many reasons that a shipment might not meet FedEx requirements, two of the most common are the following:
  • The total weight or dimensions of the products in the order exceed the limits for the active FedEx shipping rates.
  • An international "Ship To" address has been entered, but none of the international FedEx shipping methods are active.

Additionally, FedEx does not have any clear guidelines as to what makes a shipment qualify for "FedEx Home Delivery" versus "FedEx Ground". Sometimes when requesting rates for "FedEx Ground", the FedEx rate server determines that that shipment is not eligible for "FedEx Ground", and returns rates for "FedEx Home Delivery" instead; the opposite situation also sometimes occurs when requesting rates for "FedEx Home Delivery".

As a result, it is recommended to activate both the "FedEx Home Delivery" and "FedEx Ground" shipping methods in the shopping cart. That way, when the shopping cart requests rates for one service, if the FedEx server decides to only return rates for the other service, the shopping cart will be able to display that alternate shipping method.
