New Navigation Menu Coming October 1st

On October 1st, 2013 we'll be rolling out an update to the Navigation Menu in all MMv4 accounts. It's been several years since the menu has undergone a revision, and it's a bit overdue for one!

This update to the Navigation Menu adds some new features to it, such as pop-out sub menus, and is designed to relocate some items to more intuitive places.

General Changes
First of all, the new addition of pop-out menus reduces the number of clicks needed in order to access many commonly used sections of the Administration Area.

Menu items have been consolidated whenever possible. For example, instead of separate links for "Search Products" and "Add a Product", there is now one link for "Products" that has the capabilities to both search and add a product in it.

By consolidating the "search" and "add" options throughout the Navigation Menu, the number of options in it has been cut nearly in half, while retaining all the same functionality!

Finally, the Modules section of the menu has been removed, because all of the links it contained have been moved to other, more intuitive locations. For example, the modules related to products have been moved to the Products menu.

Here's a list of the changes that have been made to each section of the Navigation Menu:

HOME Changes
  • The Home button has been changed from the text "Home" to a house icon.
  • The "Admin Home Page" link has been removed from the menu.
  • The "Getting Started Checklist" has been moved to the Admin menu.
  • The "Account Setup Wizard" has been moved to the Admin menu.
ADMIN Changes
  • "Download Archives" has been renamed "Data Archives".
  • The "Tax Rules" link has been moved to the Products menu.
  • The "Manage 301 Redirects" has been moved to the Hosting menu.
  • The link to the "Customize Navigation Menu" page has been removed.
CUSTOMERS Changes
  • The "Ban Rule" section has been renamed "Ban IP/Location".
DESIGN Changes
  • The "Store Graphics" section has been renamed "Images".
MODULES Changes
  • "Affiliate Marketing" has been moved to the Customers menu.
  • "Digital Delivery" has been moved to the Products menu.
  • "Event Engine" has been moved to the Admin menu.
  • "Reward Points" has been moved to the Customers menu.
  • "Modular Mailer" has been moved to the Design menu.
  • "1-Click Upsell" has been moved to the Products menu.
  • "Product Reviews" has been moved to the Products menu.
  • "Related Products" has been moved to the Products menu.
  • "Subscription Products" has been moved to the Orders menu.
  • "Wish Lists" has been moved to the Customers menu.
  • "3rd-Party Service Integration" has been moved to the Admin menu.
Here's an example of the Products menu in both the old and new layouts, to provide an example of the differences between the two.

We think you're going to really like the updated Navigation Menu. It's less cluttered, and things are easier to find. We hope it helps make running your store all that much easier and more efficient!
