Product fields are used to add variations of products to your store, such as different sizes, colors, etc. Product fields are useful for adding multiple product options all at once, rather than creating individual products in the store for each possible product variation.
The Product Field Editor is used to create and edit product fields.
key concept Product attributes are generally used to add various extra descriptions to products. Store administrators select the attribute from within the Product Editor. Product fields are generally used to allow customers to make a choice when adding the product to the basket.
tip Inventory is not tracked if a product field is used. If you would like each product variation to have its own inventory, use a Product Group instead.
warning Product Fields are not compatible with products in subscriptions. As an alternative, if possible, Product Groups should be used instead.
To create a new product field:

Go to Products > Add a Product Field.

Select the type of field from the dropdown menu.

Configure the product field.

Click the Add this Product Field button when finished.
To edit an existing product field:

Go to Products > Search Product Fields.

Click either the SID number or the icon associated with the product field.

Make the desired changes to the product field.

Click the Save Changes to this Product Field button when finished.
Product Field format types
Product field data can be formatted in several different ways, explained in detail below.
Checkbox
Used to allow for more than one selection to be made simultaneously.
Dropdown Menu
A dropdown menu is used to allow for a single option to be selected from a from a list of options
List (Select One)
A select one list is used to provide a list of text options where the user can make a single selection.
List (Select Multiple)
A select multiple list is used to provide a list of text options where the user can make multiple selections.
Radio Buttons
Radio Buttons are used to allow users to make a single selection from a from a group of options.
Text Field
Text Fields are used to create a field where text can be inputted.
Configure the Custom Field
Each custom field has various configuration options that determine how they are presented in the product editor and storefront. The options are explained in greater detail below.
SID (System ID)
The SID (System ID) is a unique number that identifies the field to the system. This number cannot be changed. The SID will be assigned once the product field has been created.
Field Title
The field title appears to the left of the field in the product editor.
Field Description
The field description appears above the field in the product editor.
Display Order
The display order number determines the order in which the fields are arranged in the product editor or storefront The lower the number, the higher the priority.
Option Text
The text in this field will appear next to the field in the Product Editor.
Option Value
The text in this field will be stored in the database if the choice is selected.
tip
The Option Value can be left blank. The system will automatically reuse the Option Text as the Option Value.
Price Adjustment
The price of the product can be adjusted by a fixed dollar amount or percentage if the product field is selected by a customer in the storefront.
Add (+)
The add button will add another set of fields, used to create an additional field option.
Remove (-)
Clicking the minus button will remove the corresponding field option.
Active
An active attribute appears in the product editor, while an inactive attribute does not appear.
Unique
If a field is set to unique, each product must contain a unique value for the field.
Required
If a field is set to required, a product cannot be created if the field has not been populated.
Encrypt
If a field is set to encrypt, the data in the field will be encrypted when it is saved to the database.
Internal Only
The field will only apply to the admin area, and not the storefront.
Email
The field will be included in store generated emails sent to the customer, if applicable.

Notes are hidden and displayed to store administrators only.
