Admin Account Editor

Admin accounts are the individual accounts that are used to log into the store's administration area.  For security purposes, every user that logs into the administration area should have their own admin account.  This is also a requirement to receive tech support from Modular Merchant.  

The Admin Editor is used to create and edit admin accounts for the store administration area.

To create a new admin account:

  1. Go to Admin > Add an Admin Account.
  2. Give the admin a login and password. Do not use spaces.  Required.
  3. Select the active status.  Inactive admins cannot log in.
  4. Enter the email address for the admin account. Required.  The email address inputted will receive support ticket replies when the admin account is used to create a support ticket.
  5. Enter a first and last name for the admin account.
  6. Enter a security question and answer.  This question and answer may be used by Modular Merchant to confirm the admin account holder's identity during tech support requests.  Required.
  7. The phone and address can optionally be added to the contact information section..
  8. The admin profile will be displayed in the knowledge base and support ticket system.    
  9. Fill out any required Custom Admin Attributes.
  10. Notes are hidden and displayed to store administrators only.
  11. Set the admin account's permission levels.  This specifies what areas of the administration area the admin will have access to.  More on that below.
  12. Click the Save Changes button at the bottom of the page.

warning
If the status of your admin account is changed to "inactive", access to the store's administration area will immediately be revoked!

To edit an existing admin account:

  1. Go to Admin > Search Admin Accounts.
  2. Click on the SID number or the icon for the specific admin account.
  3. Make the intended changes to the admin account.
  4. Click the Save Changes button at the bottom of the page.

To edit your own admin account:

  1. Go to Admin > Edit My Admin Account.
  2. Make the intended changes to the admin account.
  3. Click the Save Changes button at the bottom of the page.

Admin Profile
Store admins have access to posting comments in the Modular Merchant forums as well as in articles in the Modular Merchant knowledge base.  The admin profile provides the ability to create a forum handle, avatar, and signature, which are used to personalize the posts.  Creating a forum handle also prevents the store username from being posted publicly.

Content Area Width
This controls the size of how the store's administration area content is displayed to each admin.  Enter an amount in pixels.

Font Size
This controls the size of the text in the store's administration area for the admin.

Avatar
An avatar is a small image that represents the user.  The image that is selected will appear next to the user's forum handle when they post on the forums or comment on a knowledge base article.

Color
Certain reports for the administrator will display using the selected color.  For example, in a bar graph, the administrator's bar will be displayed in this color.  To select a color, you may type the RGB value of the color into the provided field.  You may also click Color Picker and choose a color in the popup color picker window; its corresponding RGB value will be automatically filled into the field.

Forum Handle
The administrator's forum handle will appear when the user posts on the forums or comments on a knowledge base article.

Signature
A signature is an optional small block of text that is automatically appended to forum posts.  Signatures often contact information, quotations, or other personalizations. 

Custom Admin Attributes
Custom admin attributes are used to create additional admin values not already included with the Admin Account Editor.

Permissions Levels
Permission Levels are used to designate which areas of the administration area the admin will have access to. 

Edit System Settings
The ability to edit settings on the System Settings page.

Manage Modular Merchant account
The ability to close the Modular Merchant Account.

Search admin accounts
The ability to search through and view admin accounts.

Add/edit other admin accounts
The ability to change the settings of other admin accounts.

Edit its own admin account
The ability to change the settings of the admin account you are logged in as.

Edit its own permissions
The ability to change permissions of the admin account you are logged in on.  

View/Add/Edit custom admin fields
The ability to view or edit custom admin fields.

Search customers
The ability to search through customers records and view individual customer account information.

Add/edit customers
The ability to add customers or edit existing customer accounts.

View customer account passwords
The ability to view the passwords associated with individual customer accounts.
