Step 3 of the Account Setup Wizard is where things start to get juicy. On this step, you'll set up your first product. The Wizard is designed to ease you into the options available for your products. But don't be misled! There are many more options available in the Product Editor. The wizard just scratches the surface with the following options:

Shipped Product Options
These options will apply just to products that require shipping.
Weight
The product's weight will be used when calculating shipping fees during the checkout process.
Inventory Control
Products may have one of three types of inventory rules:
- No Inventory
Non-shipped products, such as downloads or services, may be set to this option. Products with no inventory will never run out of stock, no matter how many units of them have been purchased by customers.
- Exclusive Inventory
When a product is created, an "Inventory Object" is automatically created for it as well.
example For example, creating a "Teddy Bear" product with 1,000 units in stock will automatically create 1,000 units of a corresponding "Teddy Bear" Inventory Object. Each Teddy Bear purchased deducts a unit from the Inventory Object. When zero units are left, the Teddy Bear product is out of stock, and no longer available for purchase in the store.
- Shared Inventory
Products can also share inventory with one another. This can be useful when selling products that contain several different products bundled together, such as gift baskets.
example In addition to the Teddy Bear product above, my store also has a "Box of Chocolates" product. I can sell both the Teddy Bear and the Box of Chocolates separately, and the inventory will be tracked for each one.
However, I could also create a third product named "Bear and Chocolate Combo" which could share both the Teddy Bear's and Box of Chocolate's inventory. Each unit of the combo product that is purchased would deduct a unit from both the Teddy Bear's and Box of Chocolate's inventories.
Ship From Location
You may specify the location that each product ships from. The company address you entered in your System Settings will be used as the default Ship From Location. The product's Ship From Location will be used when calculating the shipping fees during checkout.

Subscription Product Options
These options will apply to products with recurring billing rules.
Subscription Rule
Products may have one of four types of subscription rules:
- Not a subscription product
If a product has no subscription rules, it will not rebill again automatically after its purchase.
- Every X Days
This option will schedule a recurring invoice X days after the product is purchased, repeating as many times as you specify.
- Anniversary Date
Use this option to automatically generate a follow-up invoice once a week, month or year on the same day as the original purchase.
example If a product with a subscription rule for a monthly anniversary date is purchased on the 17th day of the month, then the customer's next invoice would be scheduled for the 17th day of the next month, and so on.
- X Day of the Week/Month/Year
This option provides a lot of control over the scheduled billing pattern. Subscriptions could be set up to recur every Tuesday, or on the 3rd day of every other month, every ten years, etc.
Reschedule Options
When a subscription product is purchased, the system will do two things:
- First, it will check to see how many times the product is set to recur as itself. If it is, then the system will automatically reschedule orders for this same product the specified number of times.
example For example, a year-long monthly subscription to a product could be created by creating a product that rebills once a month, then recurs as itself 11 times. (The initial purchase + 11 monthly recurrences = 1 year of purchases.)
- Second, after the product has finished recurring as itself, it will check the rescheduling rule to determine if the subscription is to continue further. The rescheduling rules may be set to one of the following three options:
- End the subscription
This option terminates the subscription. The customer's subscription will have no further orders placed for this product.
- Restart the subscription
This will start the customer's subscription over for this product. This is an easy way to create a product with an infinite billing loop, that will continue recurring on a regular basis forever.
- Change to a NEW product
This option will switch the customer's subscription over to a different product. This is an excellent way to chain a series of products together, such as having a discounted trial product that eventually changes into another product at a different price.
