Using the
Import / Export Center, it is possible to change the scheduled products in existing subscriptions.
For example, if product SID
123 is being discontinued and replaced by product SID
456, the Import / Export Center may be used to replace product SID
123 with product SID
456 in all existing subscriptions.
Part A: Export Subscriptions
In the store's admin area, go to [Admin > Import/Export Center].
In the
Select Desired Action section, choose
export /
subscriptions, then click the
Continue... button.
On the next page of the Import / Export Center, in the
Data Export Preferences section, make sure that
Data delimiter is set to
tab.
In the
Select the fields to include in the export file... section, click the green checkmark twice to deselect the checkboxes of all optional fields.
Select the checkboxes for
Item SID,
Product Reference, and
Rebill As. (
SID is required and will always be selected.)
At the bottom of the page, click the
Save Preferences AND Export Subscriptions button.
Save the generated spreadsheet.
Part B: Edit the Spreadsheet
Open the saved spreadsheet in an editor such as Excel.
Do not change any of the values in the top header row, or in the
SID and
Item SID columns. These are required so that the spreadsheet may be imported, and so that the values in the spreadsheet will be applied as updates to existing subscriptions.
In the
Product Reference and
Rebill As columns, replace the current product SID number(s) with the new product SID number(s).
For example, if product SID
123 is being discontinued and replaced by product SID
456, replace each
Product Reference or
Rebill As value of
123 with
456.
After updating all relevant SID numbers in the
Product Reference and
Rebill As columns, save the spreadsheet.
Part C: Import Subscriptions
In the store's admin area, go to [Admin > Import/Export Center].
In the Select Desired Action section, choose import / subscriptions, then click the Continue... (or Start over...) button.
At Step 1 of 4 of the subscription import, simply click the Continue >> button. (Preparing the import spreadsheet has already been done.)
At Step 2 of 4 of the subscription import, click the Choose File or Browse... button to open a file explorer popup window. In the file explorer locate and select the previously saved and edited subscription spreadsheet. Once the file has been selected, the file explorer popup will close. Click the Upload & Scan Data File >> button to proceed to the next step.
At Step 3 of 4 of the subscription import, if there are no errors, click the Import the Data File >> button to finish the process an import the spreadsheet.
At Step 4 of 4 of the subscription import, wait for the process bar to fill up. Once the spreadsheet has been imported, the results will be displayed in a Notices box, indicating how many subscription records were updated.
The Import / Export Center may now be closed. At this point, all existing subscriptions will have been updated.
For example, if the subscription spreadsheet was edited to replace each Product Reference or Rebill As value of 123 with 456, then any subscriptions that were scheduled to bill as product SID 123 will now instead be scheduled to bill as product SID 456. And any subscriptions that were scheduled to switch to product SID 123 after completing the currently scheduled billing cycles will now instead be scheduled to switch to product SID 456 after completing the currently scheduled billing cycles.
