Each customer account has an Email Opt In setting that may be toggled between YES and NO.
If Email Opt In is set to YES, then the store will attempt to deliver both Store-Generated Email Messages and Modular Mailer Email Messages that are addressed to that customer.
If Email Opt In is set to NO, then the store will attempt to deliver Store-Generated Email Messages to the customer regardless. However, the customer will be skipped if a Modular Mailer Email Message is sent to a customer group that includes this customer. Modular Mailer will only attempt to deliver emails to customers that are both in the specified group, and have Email Opt In set to YES.
